However, this study argues that this so-called "progress" has inadvertently exacerbated inequalities between urban and rural educational settings. Using a mixed-methods approach, including a literature review, surveys, and interviews, the study critically assesses four critical areas of this growing divide: access to educational resources, economic constraints, cultural gaps, and family-based differences. By deconstructing these complex, interconnected factors, this study challenges overly optimistic narratives surrounding the role of the Internet in Education and suggests pragmatic solutions to narrow these disparities.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> Xu Linlin, Zheng Jiahui, Azlina Mohd Yusoff, Shahizan Hasan Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Social Science and Business Management https://journal.hdf-international.com/index.php/IJSSBM/article/view/80 Thu, 29 Feb 2024 00:00:00 +0000 SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT EDUCATION FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD AND ITS PRACTICAL PATH https://journal.hdf-international.com/index.php/IJSSBM/article/view/101 <div class="page" title="Page 1"> <div class="section"> <div class="layoutArea"> <div class="column"> <p>This research investigates the current state of sustainable development education in Chinese kindergartens, utilising data from an environmental protection teaching experiment conducted at gong protection teaching experiment conducted at Gong Shu Kindergarten A in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, China. Many countries have shifted their focus on talent development from specialized knowledge and skills to training in complex tasks and information-processing thinking. In higher education, guiding students to transition from lower-order thinking, such as memorisation and understanding of knowledge to higher-order thinking, such as analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of various information is a vital aspect of the new era's innovative teaching model and the enhancement of talent cultivation. This study was conducted face-to-face interviews with 12 teachers with practical experience cultivating higher-order thinking skills using purposive sampling. The collected interview data were analysed and coded using nvivo software and qualitative research methods, constructing five teaching strategy models for cultivating higher-order thinking skills in college students: scaffolding instruction, heuristic instruction, project-based instruction, collaborative learning, and diversified assessment feedback.</p> Lyu Huan, Ch'ng Lay Kee Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Social Science and Business Management https://journal.hdf-international.com/index.php/IJSSBM/article/view/87 Thu, 29 Feb 2024 00:00:00 +0000 ANALYSIS OF THE NEEDS OF MANDARIN TEACHING USERS ON LIVE STREAMING PLATFORMS https://journal.hdf-international.com/index.php/IJSSBM/article/view/88 <p>The rapid development of live streaming platforms has attracted an increasing number of knowledge sharers and learners. However, a notable disparity in English language proficiency has been observed among EFL students in China’s higher vocational colleges. One of the significant reasons for this phenomenon is the wide use of summative assessment by EFL teachers in China’s higher vocational colleges. Another factor contributing to this gap is students’ low motivation to learn English. The formative assessment training program attempts to empower teachers and students in China’s higher vocational colleges to improve students’ learning motivation and English competence. The present study explores how intrinsic, extrinsic, and motivation interact with learning motivation among EFL students in China’s higher vocational colleges across different phases (before, during, and after) of formative assessment training in China’s higher vocational colleges. This study employs a quantitative research method; 250 EFL students from China’s higher vocational colleges participated. Data was collected by questionnaires before, during, and after formative assessment training. Pls-seem was used to analyze related data. The results indicated a positive relationship between intrinsic, extrinsic, and learning motivation but a negative relationship between motivation and learning motivation before, during, and after formative assessment training among EFL students in China’s higher vocational colleges. The present study's findings also suggested the fluidity of the relationships between intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, motivation, and learning motivation across different training phases. The article proposes strategies for reducing Internet addiction among first-year students using coping stance theory from three perspectives: family, college, social and individual.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> Yajuan Li, Yasmin Hussain, Jing Wang Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Social Science and Business Management https://journal.hdf-international.com/index.php/IJSSBM/article/view/96 Thu, 29 Feb 2024 00:00:00 +0000 DETERMINANTS OF SERVICE QUALITY FACTORS AND PARENT SATISFACTION IN CHILDCARE CENTRE https://journal.hdf-international.com/index.php/IJSSBM/article/view/97 <div class="page" title="Page 1"> <div class="section"> <div class="layoutArea"> <div class="column"> <p>This study delves into the intricate dynamics of Malaysian childcare centres, focusing specifically on the elements that contribute to service quality and, ultimately, parental satisfaction. The research seeks to understand the underlying connections and impacts of various factors on parent satisfaction, excluding the aspect of educational leadership. With potential adverse outcomes from poor service quality, such as suboptimal child development and parental stress, this study aims to identify the key factors that enhance service experiences in early childhood settings. Adopting a quantitative approach, the study utilizes a causal research design to explore the relationships between various service quality elements and parent satisfaction. A comprehensive survey method was employed, offering a cross- sectional snapshot of opinions from parents with children in Malaysian childcare services. The study's design ensures precision in testing hypotheses, with findings analysed using advanced statistical tools like SPSS and PLS-SEM. The hypothesis testing reveals interesting insights. It shows the rejection of certain assumed direct impacts of basic facilities, curriculum, and program structure on parent satisfaction. However, other factors emerged as significant in shaping parental perceptions. Notably, the study found that specific service quality factors, particularly in the domain of student interactions, play a crucial role in determining parent satisfaction. The research methodology included a pilot study in Kota Bahru, Kelantan, for preliminary validation of the survey instruments. Purposive sampling selected 318 parents from various childcare centres, ensuring a relevant and focused sample. The findings indicate that while some service quality aspects may not directly influence parent satisfaction, others are crucial. The study’s implications are significant for policy and practice in early childhood education, emphasizing the enhancement of specific service quality factors as a strategy to uplift parent satisfaction in Malaysian childcare centres. This research adds an important dimension to the understanding of service quality and parent satisfaction in the context of early childhood education.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> Zainol Sulaiman, Yasmin Hussain Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Social Science and Business Management https://journal.hdf-international.com/index.php/IJSSBM/article/view/97 Thu, 29 Feb 2024 00:00:00 +0000 THE EFFECTS OF ONLINE CHINESE CRITICAL THINKING CURRICULUMS ON STUDENTS IN MAINLAND CHINA https://journal.hdf-international.com/index.php/IJSSBM/article/view/98 <div class="page" title="Page 1"> <div class="section"> <div class="layoutArea"> <div class="column"> <p>The newly released Language Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education by the Ministry of Education of mainland China emphasises the importance of developing critical thinking skills, and the value of related online curriculums is receiving increasing attention. Many studies have shown that essential thinking education develops students' creativity and self-diversity. However, it is necessary to note that this concept may need to be more idealised. A qualitative study was conducted using a case study approach to investigate further. The study involved semi- structured interviews and manual thematic coding with three teachers of online critical thinking curriculums. The results highlight that online essential curriculums of thinking have value, but the teacher, the students, the model of instruction, the teaching content, and the learning platform influence their effectiveness.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> Chuyang Zhang, Diyana Kamarudin Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Social Science and Business Management https://journal.hdf-international.com/index.php/IJSSBM/article/view/98 Thu, 29 Feb 2024 00:00:00 +0000 A STUDY OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PERFECTIONISM AND LONELINESS AMONG YOUNG TEACHERS IN UNIVERSITIES https://journal.hdf-international.com/index.php/IJSSBM/article/view/99 <div class="page" title="Page 1"> <div class="section"> <div class="layoutArea"> <div class="column"> <p>The FMPS and UCLA scales measured 100 young university teachers from ethnic areas in southwestern China. The assessment provides information to both instructors and students regarding student achievement and serves as a guide for instructional practices. In China, the teaching system is affected by an exam-oriented habitus, which has resulted in the long-term use of summative assessment to evaluate learning outcomes in the music classroom. Traditional assessment methods have the disadvantage of needing more real-world context. Students answer questions one by one without the need to apply long-term critical reasoning skills. Peer assessment is related to both the processes and the outcome. It is a technique where students assess their performance. Instructors must relinquish their dependence on traditional metrics of technique usage to accommodate this new concept. Peers evaluate student work on projects, assignments, and reports. Innovative teaching techniques and assessments are not only the exterior expression of innovation in music education but also the focal point of this innovation. When it comes to adapting to the demands of the new millennium, music education assessment is a strategic decision for the twenty-first century. The purpose of this study is to review the music assessment methods in Chinese higher education through a bibliometric analysis.</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> Zhang Yunchao, Diyana Kamarudin Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal of Social Science and Business Management https://journal.hdf-international.com/index.php/IJSSBM/article/view/100 Thu, 29 Feb 2024 00:00:00 +0000
